Fiduciary Section

Job Purpose:

Performs financial, statistical and analytical studies and prepare financial reports and statements in respect to licensees and other authorised entities within the Fiduciary Supervision Section.

Summary of Duties:

  • Work in close collaboration with the Director and Manager to assist in ensuring the Financial Analysis function of the Authorisations Unit is effectively and efficient conducted.
  • Ensure adherence with the established service standards, internal systems and control of the Authorisations Unit relating to the financial analysis function and take appropriate regulatory enforcement action in event of breaches.
  • Review and analyse audited financial statements or any other returns submitted by licensees and other authorized entities from the Fiduciary services sector to identify trends relating to revenues and expenses.
  • Design, disseminate, and interpret data collected through periodic returns submitted by licensees from the Fiduciary Services sector.
  • Maintain and update the registers being maintained by the FSA in respect to information pertaining to financial information provided by licensees within the Fiduciary Services Section.
  • Analyze data to ensure proper accounting procedures and standards have been followed by all licensees.
  • Participate in onsite inspections as and when required.

 

Minimum Entry Requirements:

  • Degree in Business Administration, Law, Management, Finance or any other related field; or
  • Other Relevant Professional Qualifications including: International Compliance Association – International Diploma in Compliance; or
  • ICSA- Level 5 Diploma or
  • Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in Related Field.

Salary:

Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

VACANCY - Business Analyst

Fiduciary Section

Job Purpose:

Responsible for reviewing and determining the merit of license applications and other authorisations requests for approval within the Fiduciary Services Sector.

Summary of Duties:

  • Work in close collaboration with the Manager Authorisations to assist and ensure effective and efficient operations of the unit.
  • Engage in the processing and evaluation of applications submitted within the Authorisations Unit including but not limited to licensing, renewal, changes and other authorisation applications.
  • Assess and appraise all applications in consultation with the other units and in line with relevant current legislation in place applying the KYC principles and due diligence.
  • Coordinate, facilitate liaison and dissemination of information to customers or their agents and provide a comprehensive analysis of applications.
  • Engage in the conduct of onsite inspections in ensuring prospective licensee’s adherence with the prevailing legislations or on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Contribute in the formulation, implementation, and maintenance of policies, procedures and practices, participate in the development of strategic plans for the FSA and review exercises as and when required.
  • Provide stakeholders with market information i.e. new licences and developments in the Industry.
  • Assist in the undertaking of market research to improve the regulatory standing of the industry and the jurisdiction.

 Minimum Entry Requirements:

  • Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or Law or any other relevant field or suitable level of experience in a relevant field; or
  • Diploma in International Compliance Association (ICA) plus 2 years of relevant working experience.

Job Purpose:

Summary of Duties:

  • Collect and deliver mails and other documents to and from the FSA.
  • Transport staff to and from FSA or to other destinations.
  • Run errands for FSA as and when necessary.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of FSA’s vehicles.
  • Advise on the need for corrective maintenance to FSA’s vehicles.

Minimum Entry Requirements:

  • Secondary Level of Education; and
  • Class 2, 5 & 6 driving license; and
  • Minimum of 5 years driving experience and a clean driving license.

Scam Alert – Fake e-mail address

This notice is issued by the Financial Services Authority (“FSA”) drawing attention to the following e-mail address: info@fsa.gov.sc which is being used in an attempt to impersonate the FSA. The emails being sent are making promise of monetary compensation or refund following trading losses. The FSA is urging members of the public not to respond to these emails and to bring the matter to its attention immediately.

Job Purpose:

  • Develop software programs and applications. Create and maintain software documentation.

Duties:

  • Work alongside the Director to conceptualize software programs.
  • Assist with debugging and maintenance of software.
  • Undertake software engineering process.
  • Undertake more complex programs under the direction of a more senior staff or supervisor.
  • Develop, modify and maintain assigned programs. Monitor the operation of assigned programs and respond to problems by diagnosing and correcting errors in logic and coding by applying knowledge of programming techniques and computer systems.
  • Review user requirements and needs for new software and perform analysis, design, implementation, installation and training related to new software developed and/or acquired.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned.

 Minimum Entry Requirements:

  • Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
