Financial Analyst

Insurance, Gambling and Pension Supervision Section

 Purpose of the Job: Responsible for overseeing the risk-based and financial aspect of the insurance, gambling and pension licensees to ensure the prudent regulation and supervision and development of the insurance and gambling industry, and the pension sector.

Summary of Duties:

  • Effectively draft and implement quantitative reporting tools for the licensees under purview in line with Internationally accepted standards.
  • Devise and implement guidelines for financial risk safeguarding for licensees under purview in line with Internationally accepted standards.
  • Effectively draft and recommend financial supervision frameworks of licensees under purview
  • Conduct off-site financial risk monitoring and supervision of regulated entities.
  • Collection and review of the audited financial statements and actuarial reports of insurance entities respectively to assess their financial solvency and make recommendations to resolve any issues.
  • Review Financial and Monthly Regulatory Report (MRR) for Gambling Licensees.
  • Complete licensee risk profile ratios calculations as part of Early warning Tests assessments and assist the Business Analyst/Supervision Officers with the findings for further recommended actions for the licensee.
  • Review and update current Early Warning Tests ratios to effectively capture Authorization and Supervision aspects in line with Internationally accepted standards.
  • Analyzing current and past financial data and performance and prepare reports and projections based on these analyses.
  • Examine the feasibility of investment proposals for licenses and prepare a plan of action based on financial analysis
  • Maintain databases by entering, verifying, and compiling statistics internally and for other local and/or international bodies such as FSC, CISNA, IAIS, IOPS, IAGR, GRAF, APSA.
  • Undertake and oversee any surveys in relation to financial matters e.g. investments in regard to licensees under purview
  • Undertake research and collect data from other jurisdictions to Identify trends, and preparing reports on the information gathered and communicating the insights of these reports for further recommendations.
  • Assist in conducting analyses of financial management and operational problems of the regulated entities.

Minimum Entry Requirements:

  •  Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Risk Management, Economics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Related field plus previous experience preparing financial reports; performing financial institution (bank, insurance or investments) and investment accounting functions; previous experience using computer applications; or
  • Professional qualifications in Insurance/Pension/Financial Planning/Finance (CII) and Accounting (ACCA) from a recognized professional body plus two years of relevant working experience.

 Salary:

  • Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
